The End Of The World (Japan Edition)

The End Of The World (Japan Edition) Video Clips. Duration : 4.58 Mins.

// Probably best not to talk religious stuff in the comments. You won't change anyones mind no matter which side of it you're on, and just starts flame wars. Be nice! // Apparently tomorrow is the end of the world / the rapture. Koichidamus has spoken, though. Tomorrow is only the beginning, and the future is much more epic. PS I think all of the references in this video are from either Godzilla movies or Dragonball ZPPS Please don't believe a single word I say in this video... just for fun, and to make a point, etc. Blog: tofugu.com Twitter twitter.com Facebook: facebook.com Want to learn Japanese? Tales of Beedle The Bard: Collectors Edition

Tales of Beedle The Bard: Collectors Edition Tube. Duration : 2.73 Mins.

Jessica and I are certifiably insane about books. We eat them like food. Between the two of us we probably consume at least 3-4 per week. Also being a fan of the Harry Potter series, we were pretty jazzed that JK Rowling released a new book from the world of Harry Potter: Tales of Beedle the Bard. So, we had to pick up the collector's edition before they sold out: handwritten introduction, leather binding, metal accents and hidden in a larger book designed to look like a Hogwarts textbook so that the student can read the book without being caught by the professor. Isn't that fun? :) Anyway, we came home tonight to find a box from Amazon that said "Attention Muggles: do not open until December 4th". So, here it is.... Yes....I know we're weird about books. :) Harry Potter Hogwarts JK Rowling JK Rowling Beedle The Bard Books Book Collection Bibliophile

Introduction to Algorithms: WHAT'S NEW in the 3rd Edition?

Introduction to Algorithms: WHAT'S NEW in the 3rd Edition? Video Clips. Duration : 9.75 Mins.

Professor Charles E. Leiserson discusses the latest edition of the Introduction to Algorithms textbook: 1) Why do a new edition? 2) What's new in the 3rd edition? 3) What did each author focus on, and how did they work together? 4) What's in the Multithreaded Algorithms section? In addition to answering the questions, Charles makes a decent case for why algorithms are both fun and important :)

Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions, Sixth Edition Specifications

A lot of computer-security textbooks approach the subject from a defensive point of view. "Do this, and probably you'll survive a particular kind of attack," they say. In refreshing contrast, Hacking Exposed, Second Edition talks about security from an offensive angle. A Jane's-like catalog of the weaponry that black-hat hackers use is laid out in full. Readers see what programs are out there, get a rundown on what the programs can do, and benefit from detailed explanations of concepts (such as wardialing and rootkits) that most system administrators kind of understand, but perhaps not in detail. The book also walks through how to use the more powerful and popular hacker software, including L0phtCrack. This new edition has been updated extensively, largely with the results of "honeypot" exercises (in which attacks on sacrificial machines are monitored) and Windows 2000 public security trials. There's a lot of new stuff on e-mail worms, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, and attacks that involve routing protocols.

The result of all of this familiarity with bad-guy tools is a leg up on defending against them. Hacking Exposed wastes no time in explaining how to implement the countermeasures--where they exist--that will render known attacks ineffective. Taking on the major network operating systems and network devices one at a time, the authors tell you exactly what Unix configuration files to alter, what Windows NT Registry keys to change, and what settings to make in NetWare. They spare no criticism of products with which they aren't impressed, and don't hesitate to point out inherent, uncorrectable security weaknesses where they find them. This book is no mere rehashing of generally accepted security practices. It and its companion Web site are the best way for all of you network administrators to know thine enemies. --David Wall

Topics covered:

  • Security vulnerabilities of operating systems, applications, and network devices
  • Administrative procedures that will help defeat them
  • Techniques for hacking Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Novell NetWare, and Unix
  • Strategies for breaking into (or bringing down) telephony devices, routers, and firewalls
